Gender Roles in Salt of the Earth, El Norte and Zoot Suit

Esperanza had literally no power inside her home, or the wider union, so that the concerns she had for pragmatical matters were almost completely do by by the activities of the male partnership activists. The women within the mining community were consistently treated with the analogous patronizing disdain that the Anglo workers displayed toward their Mexican coun terparts.
